There are many events that take place each year from family and class reunions to large annual events such as the Celebration of Butterflies.  The following are a list of several large events that take place in our town:

 

March – the Northwest Louisiana Chicken Show – This event brings poultry folks from all over Louisiana, Arkansas, Texas and Oklahoma.

 

June – The Claiborne Charities Golf Classic – This two day tournament benefits citizens of Claiborne Parish which may have extra needs.

 

May - Music Festival - May 29th on the Fairgrounds. This event will feature all types of music for all ages; 5pm-9pm, vendors are welcome.

 

September – The Celebration of Butterflies – This event brings in butterfly lovers from all over the country for both fun and educational reasons.

 

September – The Claiborne Parish Fair and Northwest LA Dairy Festival – This weeklong fair showcases a fairgrounds midway, 4-H activities, as well as, prize competition in all types of arts, crafts and cooking categories.

 

Fall also brings football where Haynesville is proud of its team, which has won 14 state championships.  The season brings out lots of people to enjoy high school football at its best.
