City Council

The Town Council, by legislative mandate of R.S. 33:321-463, shall have the care, management, and control of the municipality and its property and finances.  In this regard, the council may levy and collect taxes, incur debt, contract with other entities, grant franchises and enact ordinances.

The legislative powers are vested in and exercised by the board.  The mayor is the chief executive officer.  In the event of his absence the mayor pro tem chair meeting.  All acts are approved by majority vote with a quorum present.

The council meetings are held the third Thursday of each month at 6 pm in the council room at city hall.  All meetings are open to the public.
